Jeep YJ Steering Column Lower Bearing

Old Jeep Wrangler YJ and CJs are known for having a worn out steering column. You can grab the steering wheel top to bottom and move the steering shaft going down the column. That is because the lower bearing is either shot or has came out of place. Either way its time to replace it.

As long as the steering shaft connected to the steering box will collapse like it should, the job is real easy! If the shaft will not collapse you may need to drop the steering box to move the shaft out of the way.
