Easy Fuel Pump Change for a Jeep YJ
Changing a fuel pump in a Jeep Wrangler YJ is not much fun. You have to drop the tank and there is no other choice. As luck will normally have it the fuel pump will go out just after you fill up. Now you have to drain a full tank before you can drop it! Grrr !!
Well, with this easy fuel pump access panel mod it becomes so much easier!! No kidding .. I can change the fuel pump inside 20 minutes and NEVER lay on the ground! No draining the tank, do dropping the tank. If you keep gloves in your tool kit, you will not even get dirty or be stinking like gas!
I really recommend doing this mod when you got the gas tank dropped. This is for safety reasons due to the tank being so close to the floor pan. If you happen to cut too deep into the metal floor you could cut a fuel hose or even the fuel tank. If you cut too deep best case scenario you will need to replace what you cut. Worst case scenario .. well .. BOOM!!! So please be careful!!
